Martha, the sister of Lazarus and Mary, received Christ into their household in Bethany. It is also recorded that He had supper in Bethany six days before Passover and His Passion and death, and Martha served Him.
Jesus spoke His famous words to Martha shortly before He raised Lazarus from the dead, “I am the resurrection and life” – words that echo and reach down the centuries. Her response was equally powerful: “I believe you are the Christ, the Son of God, he who was to come into the world”.

St. Martha is the patron saint of housewives, cooks, housekeepers, and lay sisters.

Prayer:

Saint Martha, pray for us that we might serve Jesus better, and see Him in everyone to whom we offer hospitality. Help us to overcome our distractions and worries to listen to His words and be present to Him this day.
Amen.
